Full Name: Asics GT 2140
Category: Stability
Weight: 11 oz. (310 gr.)
Suggested Price:100$
Reccomended For: Neutral to Mild Over Pronators
  • Asics GT 2140 General Info:

The Asics GT 2100 series is most likely the world’s best selling Stability shoe. This means that when Asics refreshes it, they have to improve the shoes’ performance but have to stay true to the franchise fit, performance and durability – in other words, they need not to disappoint all the fans worldwide.

  • Asics GT 2140 Sole Unit:

The midsole tooling is new, but has the same basic characteristics as as the GT 2130.
Improved foam material will provide better ‘bounce back’, and to enhance midfoot support, the Space Trusstic System has been lengthened slightly on the medial side, which is meant to provide an even better support during the heel-to-toe transition of your running gait.
Unchanged the use of Asics’ DuoMax dual density technology: an injection of a harder foam in the medial side of the midsole in order to support collapsing arches, while letting the rest of the feet be cushioned by Asics’s Gel technology both in the forefoot and the heel.

  • Asics GT 2140 Upper:

Even though the upper has a complete redesign from last year’s shoe, the last used for the shape of the upper hasn’t been changed – if you fit 2008′s GT (2130), you will fit the same in the 2140.
A good update on the upper is the adoption of a new Ortholite sockliner. Made of Memory Foam, this sockliner adds extra cushioning to your run without compromising the stability of the shoe. The sockliner will adapt to the natural shape of your foot, and get back to its original form after each run.

  • Asics GT 2140 Opinion:

The Asics GT 2140 is a great value for money. If you already run in a GT2000 shoe and wonder if this years’ version will live up to your expectations you won’t be disappointed. If you are a neutral to mild overpronator runner, this shoe is a great option for you.

These are by far the best running shoes i have ever had. Very light and comfortable,no more aching feet and knees after a long day. Im a first time Asics buyer and it definately wont be my last time.If you have flat feet, pronate or have pain in the heel, you should really give these a try…. im glad i did.

i wish i came to this site before i went out to buy this shoe. i have a medium arc and i pronate outward a little. the harder, firmer cushion on the inside of the shoe really doesnt help my running at all. on my long runs i get so frustrated with these shoes that i just stop. im a fan of the nimbus 10s and i wanted a cusion shoe but didnt know the 11s came out. i wouldnt recommend this shoe to anyone with my type of feet. i feel like a dummy for not doing my homework!

The toe box is too small. I can feel my toes pushing into the sides at an angle like the stability/motion control part of the shoe keeps you at an angle to prevent overpronating. It’s like you’re walking on the sides of your feet like a person who supanates…However, they are sturdy when running. My plantar fasicitis doesn’t start hurting until the end of my run compared to all the way through… They are snug too no slipping on the foot. The ankle has extra padding too which makes motion control feel better.

I am not sure if the women’s last design is cut completely differently as I have to disagree with kate. I have the Men’s 2140 and the toebox is huge. I will also comment that these shoes run large. My NB trail runners are a 12. My Vasque Switchback hiking boots are a 12. My Timberland casual boots are a 12. All of these fit just right. The Asics 2140s are a 12 and they have a ton of excess room in the front. My feet don’t slide in them though so I presume they are still the right size. I have never taken an 11.5 in any brand or model shoe so it would be quite odd if I needed to drop a size for this shoe. I just got them so I have yet to determine anything else about them, other than the large fit.
