I wish that they sold the 768 longer. I was pointed to the 769. It feels very different from the 768. 769 was not an improvement. It choked my toes and I wish I could take them back. Well lets see if the new 700 (the next number for the series) is better. I doubt it.

I bought these on sale at Big 5 as an “emergency” replacement for my Asics 2130′s. The Asics series always fit me perfectly, I always wear 9′s. I had to buy a 9.5 on the NB for proper fit. I weigh 152lbs and run 25 miles a week. They felt fine on my first run. They had a “light” feel. I liked the lacing system. I am satisfied w my purchase ($49.99). I am waiting for the Asics 2150′s to go on sale in a few months.

I got these running shoes as a prize from a running store. I was “fitted” with a size 11.5,D width when I normally where an 11. I have flat feet and a narrow foot. I ran all summer long training for a 5K. After my run in early September I developed “runners Knee”. My orthopedic Dr. looked at my shoes and said this model was the worst fit for my foot.
I have since switched to Saucony Pro Grid Paramount size 11.

I’m a 210lbs man and a mild pronator with normal arches. I love the 769! Tried Asics 2140 (chafed my heels like crazy) and New Balance’s own 740 (very soft ride and with reasonable arch support, but the fit was off for me; 2E was too wide and D was too tight). The 769 fits just right and has the perfect blend of stability, support and cushioned ride. Runner’s World found its ride stiff while they praised the Asics 2140 to high heaven, but my experience was that the 769 was by the far the more comfortable of the two. Goes to confirm that there’s nothing that helps you find which shoe fits YOU better than trying several out yourself. Feet dimensions and problems vary widely from one person to another and reviews should only be used as general guidelines, a tool among many others that you need to use to find the perfect shoe for you.

Janet- For what it’s worth, I have a high arch and I just picked up these 769′s after spending two hours trying on various New Balance, Asics, Nike, and Saucony runners. I’m very satisfied with my purchase!

The 769's look really nice, I wish I had gotten these. Instead, I have the older New Balance 768 instead, but they're still good.
