WHO IS IT FOR
Overpronators looking for a breathable, gender-specific supportive shoe.

Adidas Supernova Sequence 5 First Impressions:

When I recieved the Adidas Supernova Sequence 5 in the Grey/Silver/Green color scheme, I was thrilled. At first look, the design is sleek, with a fresh new color scheme that becomes more developed towards the back heel. The heel has a snug, cushioned feel upon putting them on. They are overall comfortable and breathable.

Adidas Supernova Sequence 5 Sole Unit

The sole is lightly cushioned, but overall supportive. A larger ADIWEAR outsole offers durability and a larger Continental rubber outsole provides strong grip that delivers over more traction in wet and dry conditions. After running in both the rain and sunshine on a variety of different surfaces, I didn’t notice a difference between the runs in the performance of the shoe. A pro-moderator medial support system in the shoe helped prevent overpronation during the run, while the new dual torsion system kept the mid foot stable and a smooth transition of energy to the forefoot. The Adiprene+ in the forefoot helped maintain proper energy shift and propusion, which created an overall efficient stride. Adiprene in the heel helped with impact significantly. Adidas created subtle changes to the male and female models based on varying the flex points and pro-moderator medial support to create a more custom fit and stability support.

Adidas Supernova Sequence 5 Upper:

The mesh fabric on the upper is airy, softer, and breathes well. Adidas improved the upper with welded micro suede open overlays made with GORE-TEX water-p that create a better forefoot flex and maximum breathability. With a roomier arch and redesigned heel geofit collar, the shoe is comfortable and has more cushioning in the heel. It had a snug fit due to the cushioning, but after running long distances, I noticed the heel to become a roomier fit.

Adidas Supernova Sequence 5 Opinion:

I really enjoyed running in the Adidas Sequence 5. They helped control and regulate my overpronation, but were still lightweight. They have great impact resistance and overall helped stability. The open mesh on the upper unit created a breathable shoe and a better forefoot fit. I would not recommend the shoe for long distance runners, as I noticed the cushioning to wear down easily after putting 40+ miles on the shoe.
