Running and Reading are two of my passions, so it’s not a surprise that I spend quite some time reading about running. Being also the internet addict I am, I read a lot of running blogs.
Some of them review gear, some other talk about training programs and give advice, some are personal stories about running, fitness and motivation. Isn’t this all running ?
This is a list (in no particular order!) of the ten blogs I read more often, either because of the information I get or because of the personality of the blogger.
- iRunFar
- Strength Running
- Run Blogger
- Science of Running
- Predawn Runner
- Run Addicts
- Believe in the Run
- The Middle Miles
- Mile Posts
- Runner Dude
iRunFar has the best title of them all… it’s just perfect! Bryon Powell is the guy behind it. He is a trail runner and an ultra-runner (the two things seem to go well together). What makes iRunFar extremely interesting to read is the massive amount of racing news and interviews with pro runners.
Jason Fitzgerald is a 2:39 marathon runner and as such, he has plenty to teach about running. Jason is a coach and his articles are very well written essays about training, recovery and improving endurance and performance.
If not the first, runblogger is definitely one of the most famous running blogs out there. Pete Larson has a lot of insight about running form and minimalist running shoes. He is co-author of the book “Threading Lightly” that I am currently reading and it’s a fascinating book.
As the name suggest, science of running deals with the scientific research behind claims on running and fitness. A coach and Exercise Science student, Steve Magness backs his articles with scientific papers.
Greg Strosaker is the author of Predawn Runner, a blog that is a continuous source of inspiration for running tips, motivation and new ideas.
Aside from the stunning web design, Run Addicts has some hidden gems among its articles.
Here’s another blog with a simple but beautiful web design. Believe in the Run reviews shoes and gear, but also has interesting articles about natural and barefoot running.
Fast runner and great Photoshopper, Becky is also a regular of a couple running forums. What I like about the Middle Miles is that when Becky says something, you can believe she means it.
Another female blogger ! Dorothy talks about her running, principally marathons with the perspective of a real person. Diffult to explain, read her blog!
Thad McLaurin is the Runner Dude. With an impressive resume of coaching and education, his tips are precious.
So – these are the 10 running blogs I read most often. Do you read them? Did I forget to mention your favourite (or maybe I don’t know it?) – Feel free to leave your comment !
Thanks Ruggero, honored by the mention and the company, and found at least one other blog I wasn’t familiar with.
Thanks for this. Found a few I haven’t read before.
Much appreciated.
Great list, thank you for including believeintherun.com

Thanks for the mention! Honored to be in the company of those other blogs.
Nice list! Some familiar names and a couple of new ones for me to check out. Thanks.
nice post
I read Christopher McDougall’s ‘Born To Run’ two years ago and it changed my life.
I was a 55 year old ex-long distance runner who thought he’d never run again due to a persistent foot injury.
I started running again wearing the New Balance Minimus and my feet started getting stronger.
I’ve always been a sandals wearer, season permitting, and got eventually tired of not being able to find the perfect pair (traveled 6 continents, many countries over the years) so when I bagged my electrical engineering career last year I decided to learn how to make sandals myself.
I have to say that I think I might now have the perfect pair of running sandals; in fact I’ll put them up against any other pair in the world for comfort, durability and performance.
I run two hours a day, every day in them down here in Mexico.
Oh yeah, they’re made from recycled airplane tires and leather.

I would add Jay Johnson and if you consider Greg McMillans posts a blog him too.
I follow Run Addicts and the wonderful iRunFar
Great post!
