New Balance Custom Prints 3D track spikes

(see photo). At first glance, the 4:01.44 indoor mile that Jack Bolas ran in New York doesn’t seem like that big a deal.
But the real story wasn’t his fourth-place finish; instead, it was the fact the four-time All-American was the first professional athlete to run a race in 3-D printed equipment.
Specifically, the spike plates on the shoes Bolas wore in January were created by New Balance after a long research-and-development process focused on ensuring the shoes met his individual needs.

Newton Running names Craig Heisner president

Newton Running, announced earlier this week that Craig Heisner has been appointed president, effective immediately. His appointment is designed to support the company’s continued growth and expansion in the specialty running category.

In his new position, Heisner will oversee the marketing, branding and sales for all current product lines. He will manage the sales and marketing departments at the company and will report directly to Cofounder and CEO Jerry Lee.

Adidas and Reebok to continue together through adversity

Adidas is to stick with its troubled Reebok business even though the German sportswear group had to make a 265 million euro ($344.5 million) write-down on the brand at the end of last year.

Adidas, which bought Reebok in 2005 for $3.8 billion to try to close the gap with market leader Nike, last year had to cut its 2015 sales target for the brand by a third after two quarters of declining sales.
