Nike Pegasus 32 General Info

The Nike Zoom Pegasus 32 remains one of Nike’s core neutral road shoes and the latest edition continues its tradition with a new upper which includes a seamless Flymesh combined with Flywire for increased comfort and fit.

The Pegasus 32 is great for neutral runners who are looking for a shoe that can handle both fast-paced and long, high mileage training while providing excellent cushioning and a quick transition.

The Pegasus underwent design changes to the upper to increase comfort and overall fit while the midsole and outsole remained mostly unchanged from the previous model.

The most prominent update to the Pegasus 32 is the change to a new seamless Flymesh upper along with the addition of Nike’s Flywire.

The new upper allows the shoe to be lighter and more breathable while allowing for a much more personalized, snug fit for my entire foot.

The combination of the Cushlon foam midsole and Zoom Air in the heel allowed for a comfortable ride during each of my outings. The shoe lived up to its history of being delivering smooth and quick transitions during each run.

The Pegasus 32 maintains its place as a top pick for those neutral runners who seek a shoe that can handle the demands of short or long runs all while doing so in style and comfort.

Nike Pegasus 32 Sole Unit

Nike Pegasus 32 - Sole

Nike Pegasus 32 – Sole

The Pegasus 32 continues its tradition of providing a comfortable ride along with a smooth and responsive transition by keeping the midsole and outsole similar to that of the previous model.

The midsole is designed of full-length Cushlon foam delivering ample cushioning which is lightweight and durable allowing for the shoe to provide a smooth and soft ride.

As with many Nike models, Zoom Air is integrated in the heel which allowed for a more responsive cushioning and transition throughout the foot strike.

The combination of the Cushlon foam midsole and Zoom Air provided me with a comfortable, smooth ride without sacrificing control during each stride. The feeling and ride underfoot was very similar to that of the Nike Elite 8 and Brooks Ghost.

The outsole continues to be comprised of Blown Rubber Crash Rails on the lateral side for increased cushioning and smoother transitions combined with Carbon Rubber for durable traction.

The Waffle outsole design in forefoot provided increased traction and added to the overall cushioning underfoot while the Environmentally Preferred Rubber integrated into the forefoot delivered more traction throughout transition.

The shoe retained the Cross Rocker within the forefoot which is tapered to promote a runner’s natural foot strike along with the Crash Pad in the heel which is “decoupled” and gender-specific delivering reduced force during ground contact while increasing stability.

These are benefits that are hard to “feel” while you are running but assist with overall control during each stride.

The use of Cushlon foam midsole and Zoom Air in the heel delivered a quick, smooth transition during each run.

There was ample cushioning whether I was out for fast-paced runs or logging miles on longer outings. The sole had a similar ride and feel to that of other Nike models such as the Elite 8 and Vomero 10.

The Pegasus 32 continued its 10 mm offset from heel-to-toe. The offset tends to be a very personal preference for most runners when selecting a daily trainer.

The Pegasus 32 sole unit remained unchanged and it continued to offer the benefits of a quick transition and comfortable, secure ride which runners have come to enjoy and rely on from this shoe.

Nike Pegasus 32 Upper Info

The Pegasus 32 upper underwent design changes to increase comfort and fit. The change to a new seamless Flymesh material and including Flywire cables for secure fit is immediately noticeable once you take shoe out of the box and lace up.

The new seamless Flymesh material in the upper allows the shoe to be more breathable while lightweight.

Nike Pegasus 32 - Toe

Nike Pegasus 32 – Toe

Nike is incorporating various versions of the Flymesh material into many of its running shoes over the past few years as the seamless design and material increases overall comfort while reducing overall weight.

The Pegasus was updated to include the Nike Dynamic Flywire cables which are visible on the lateral and medial sides of the shoe providing increased support around my entire midfoot allowing me to have a more personalized and comfortable fit during each run.

The change to the upper with the combination of the Flymesh and Flywire allowed me outstanding comfort and an adaptive fit as it wrapped my entire foot.

This design change is a great improvement from the previous model and adds to the tradition of this being a fast, reliable trainer.

The key for me each time I lace up a shoe with Flywire is finding how snug to lace up to obtain a comfortable fit around the midfoot which works with my running style and foot strike.

I am use to running with the Flymesh and Flywire combination as I have run in the Nike LunarGlide 7, Nike Odyssey and Nike Elite 8.

I believe many runners will find that merging the Flywire with the Flymesh is a solid improvement which allows for a premium fit.

Increased comfort and support is provided via Nike’s EVA Fitsole Sockliner which adapts to the shape of the runner’s underfoot while and internal Heel Counter provides increased stability by keeping the heel secure and locked in place.

I found the performance of the shoe to be even better with this latest version with the added comfort via the upper.

The changes to the upper and the addition of the seamless Flymesh and Flywire cables made for a secure and more comfortable fit.

Nike Pegasus 32 Conclusions

The Pegasus 32 is a neutral, lightweight daily trainer that continues its long tradition of providing a responsive and smooth ride along with reliable comfort mile after mile.

The 32nd Edition of the Pegasus retains its long history of being a performance trainer.

The updates to a seamless, lightweight Flymesh upper combined with the Flywire provide a secure fit while the sole offers a smooth ride and good traction.

I enjoyed running in Pegasus 32 and found it to be a solid shoe for neutral runners who are looking for a performance trainer that can deliver a smooth and responsive ride whether you take it out or quick, short runs or log long high mileage outings.

For those runners who have come to enjoy the reliable tradition of the Pegasus model, they will enjoy the newly designed upper which was increased the overall comfort while keeping the history of providing a smooth and comfortable ride intact.

We thank the nice people at Nike for sending us a pair of Pegasus 32 to test. This did not influence the outcome of the review, written after running more than 50 miles in them.
