OUR VERDICT

The Nike LunarGlide 7 is aimed for those runners looking for a lightweight shoe that offers a reliable combination of stability and cushioning to assist with overpronation.

A newly engineered mesh and “Flyknit” upper combined with the exceptional Lunarlon midsole foam introduced in the last model, the LunarGlide 7 offers a secure, personalized fit all while delivering a smooth and responsive transition throughout a runner’s gait.

The shoe remains lightweight and versatile for those runners needing a little extra stability in a daily trainer or racer without compromising performance. This latest version of the LunarGlide is the best yet since its introduction due the combination of the new “Flyknit” upper with the responsive Lunarlon midsole and pressure-mapped outsole.

WHO IS IT FOR
The Nike LunarGlide 7 is ideal for those runners seeking a shoe that offers an excellent blend of stability and cushioning to assist with overpronation as well as those neutral runners who are looking for a lightweight daily trainer or racer.

Nike Lunarglide 7 General Info

The Nike LunarGlide 7 builds upon the tradition of its predecessors of delivering a quality, lightweight stability shoe which has plenty of cushioning and provides a smooth ride.

The shoe is targeted for those runners who tend to overpronate and need that extra stability which is provided via the Dynamic Support designed throughout.

It was very apparent from first look at the LunarGlide 7’s straight out of the box that the major enhancements were made to the upper.

The synthetic overlays were removed and replaced with an engineered mesh and Flyknit material which allows for a much more breathable and comfortable sock-like fit.

From the very first run, I immediately felt how the redesign of the upper made my foot more comfortable and secure from heel-to-toe.

This was due in large part to the new “Flyknit” mesh along with how the midsole wrapped the entire foot and could be adjusted via the “Flywire” for an customized fit.

The LunarGlide 7 continues to provide a soft and secure ride due to the Lunarlon foam midsole and durable pressure-mapped outsole which were updated in the previous version, the LunarGlide 6, and remained unchanged.

The new design of the upper combined with the reliable midsole and outsole delivers the best version of the LunarGlide and is a shoe that can be worn as a daily trainer or put to the test as a weekend racer.

Nike Lunarglide 7 Sole Info

The LunarGlide sole unit underwent several updates in the previous version and those enhancements were continued in the LunarGlide 7.

The midsole material is dual-density Lunarlon foam which gives the shoe a comfortable ride and smooth transition throughout the entire ground contact.

The Lunarlon foam material is designed with a softer inner core that is wrapped by a stronger outer layer and allows for a more lightweight shoe while still providing reliable stability and performance.

The outsole which was also updated in the LunarGlide 6 is constructed of a pressure-mapped rubber which gives the shoe its grip and dependable traction throughout the foot strike.

I am pleased that Nike left the sole unit alone and kept the Lunarlon foam and Pressure-Mapped Outsole as it allows for a very enjoyable running experience.

The LunarGlide 7 continues to offer a smooth and soft ground transition from heel-to-toe along with plenty of responsiveness and stability.

Nike Lunarglide 7 Upper Info

The upper of the LunarGlide 7 is where you can immediately see and feel the updates made in this latest version.

The key updates were the addition of the Engineered Mesh on the toe box and “Flyknit” upper from the heel to midfoot while the old synthetic overlays were removed.

The change in the design and materials delivers a lighter and more breathable upper while offering a secure and comfortable fit.

The LunarGlide 7 retains the “Flywire” cables which attach to the laces and run through the midfoot and “Flyknit” material.

These allow a runner to adjust for a more adaptable and individualized fit around the midfoot for increased stability and comfort.

The shoe has the same hard plastic heel counter which delivers stability in the rear of the shoe locking the heel firmly in place for increased support and control for the runner through the entire stride.

The moment you put the LunarGlide 7 on, the redesign of the upper is immediately noticeable. The merger of the newly engineered mesh and “Flyknit” upper combined with the “Flywire” make for a very comfortable fit.

This allows every runner to adapt and adjust the shoe to their desired preference. I found the changes in the upper to be a huge positive in this version.

Nike Lunarglide 7 Conclusions

The LunarGlide is continuing to improve with each model. The LunarGlide 7 delivers a lightweight shoe offering a good blend of stability for those who tend to overpronate with plenty of cushioning for a very smooth ride.

When you combine the design changes to the upper in addition to an already great midsole and outsole, the LunarGlide 7 went from a good shoe to an even better shoe from an overall comfort and performance standpoint from top to bottom.

The design changes with the addition of the lightweight mesh and “Flyknit” upper with the “Flywire” provides for an extremely personalized and comfortable fit around the midfoot.

The midsole’s superior cushioning provides for a soft ride and smooth transition throughout the entire stride.

The LunarGlide 7 is one of the most responsive and comfortable stability shoes I have worn.

The shoe stays true to its roots by providing the runner a great blend of a stable platform and plenty of cushioning while increasing the overall comfort in the midfoot.

The enhancements in the LunarGlide 7 are worth the small price increase as the benefits are spot on for Nike in this version.

The shoe can fit those runners looking for stability to assist with overpronation as well as those neutral runners who are looking for a lightweight daily trainer or racer.

The LunarGlide 7 offers a smooth and quick transition all while providing exceptional cushioning allowing the runner the ability to put on many miles in comfort.

We thank the nice people at Nike for sending us a pair of LunarGlide 7 to test. This did not influence the outcome of the review, written after running more than 50 miles in them.
