Summary

This is just an overview, not a review. We did not test the Fitboost yet.
The Adidas Fitboost has a classic, sleek Adidas look and is designed for multiple sports, gym weight training and high intensity workouts.

The upper is made of a breathable knit mesh with thicker TPU overlays to add support and structure. The tongue and heel are padded and rise high up the foot ankle compared to other training shoes.

The large, flexible outsole wraps slightly up the lateral side for added support and durability, but less so than on specific Crossfit style training shoes. On the outsole, the grip is shallow as you'd expect from a training shoe to give good ground contact and stability when lifting, and is great for indoor use. The tread pattern moves in different directions to also offer some grip for short runs outdoors.

The full length Boost midsole gives plush cushioning during fast movements demanded from high intensity workouts, and is visible from the outsole. This technology features in many other premium Adidas training and running shoes, and is, in short, small TPU pellets designed to give the best energy return whilst remaining durable and flexible.

This may give the shoe an edge over other training shoes on short runs, but loses points for stability on heavier lifts. It's not possible to get the best of both worlds when it comes to a shoe designed for mixed purpose workouts.

The low heel to toe drop helps with ankle stability when lifting weights and gives solid low to ground feel.

Who is it for?

The Fitboost is recommended for runners mixing up their training with high intensity workouts, and light weightlifting. If you're a runner looking for a specialist shoe to use for gym work such as squats, burpees, and work with dumbbells this shoe could work for you. The Fitboost isn't for lifting super heavy weights in, or for long runs but sits comfortably in the middle of a HIIT training shoe and a Crossfit training shoe.

If you're a fan of the Adidas Boost Technology and are looking for this specifically, or you want a training shoe that looks just as sleek inside and outside of the gym, then the Fitboost ticks these boxes.
