Summary

The Brooks Transcend 5 are for runners who need a little more support while wanting a comfortable shoe. It provides a good amount of stability, a roomy toebox, and is an overall good-looking shoe.

The midsole of the Transcend 5 features Super DNA, that provides 20 percent more cushioning compared to other Brooks shoes. The midsole conforms to the shape of your foot as you move to adapt to your cushioning needs. Another nice feature are the Guide Rails, which are an updated version of this shoe, and are located around the platform to give stability and support as you run. The rails prevent excess movements of your knees, shins, and heels. Also in the midsole, you will find the S-257 and the Double Omega Flex Grooves, both of which aid in flexibility.

On the outsole of the Transcend 5 is flexible rubber and Blown rubber to provide traction and protection from wear and tear. The Idea Pressure Zone offers a stable platform and spreads the shock of impact across the outsole so you will experience an easier transition. Furthermore, the Rounded Heel design offers smooth landings on the forefoot or midfoot strikes.

The Brooks Transcend 5 upper is made of breathable mesh to keep your feet well ventilated. Underneath the upper, you will find Element Lining which keeps your feet fresh, moisture-free, and healthy. The Comfortable Saddle Construction helps keeps your feet in place by wrapping the fabric snugly around your feet while allowing some movement. The upper also features 3D Fit Printed Overlays to provide extra structure and the toe is reinforced for extra durability.

Who is it for?

The Brooks Transcend 5 is for those who need stability and want a midsole that offers support and cushioning. These shoes are great for daily runs or shorter marathons as they are durable and provide excellent traction on the roads.
