Summary
This is just an overview, not a review. We did not test the Evo Mafate 2 yet.The HOKA ONE ONE Evo Mafate 2 is better than the first version because of some updates, however, this makes it heavier than the original.
The Evo Mafate 2 is perfect for running on technical terrain as it can handle mud, streams, and downhill runs. While some people find Hoka shoes too narrow, this shoe doesn’t have that issue because of the roomy toe box. No matter how far you want to run on trails this shoe can handle it all.
In the midsole, you will find rubberized foam for a soft landing and an increased energy return. The EVA midsole protects your feet while offering solid cushioning. Some runners stated they can’t feel the ground too well, but it didn’t seem to hinder performance. Furthermore, the heel is well-cushioned and comfortable on all types of surfaces.
The Kevlar-infused Matryx upper in this version has updated geometry and a gusseted tongue for extra security. This update to the upper is smooth, flexible, and allows for good toe splay. While the upper may get hot in warm summer weather, it allows air to flow through and is breathable.
On the outsole, you will find 5mm lugs to help grip muddy surfaces. The Vibram Megagrip rubber has an excellent grip to keep traction over the technical train terrain.
