Which one of these shoes is the right one for you?
The midsole of the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature consists of recycled ZoomX and React foam throughout the length of the sole. The ZoomX gives the Pegasus Turbo 2 responsiveness and sink in comfort while the React provides a more durable, stable platform at the bottom of the midsole.
The Tempo Next% also has a midsole of ZoomX and React but in a much higher stack height. React is found in the heel and part of the midfoot while ZoomX is in the midfoot and forefoot.
The Pegasus Turbo Next Nature’s midsole is only foam whereas the Tempo has a composite plate in its midsole which makes it stiffer and more snappy than the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature.
There are two large Zoom Air units in the forefoot of the Tempo Next% which the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature doesn’t have. These giant air bags activate at higher speeds to provide explosive responsiveness.
The ride of the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is softer than the ride of the Tempo Next% so it is better suited to longer runs than the Tempo. The ride of the Tempo feels harsh at slower paces but it shines during faster efforts.
Stability is much better in the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature because it has a lower stack height. In the Tempo, you have to slow down when making a turn or you could roll an ankle.
Ride transitions are smoother in the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature than in the Tempo Next% because its outsole is full ground contact. The Tempo’s midsole is raised off the ground so you transition straight from the heel to the forefoot, skipping out the midfoot.
The outsole of the Tempo Next% is much more durable than that of the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature. Its entire forefoot is covered in a thick slab of ribbed rubber while it has two thick strips of raised rubber on its rearfoot.
The Pegasus Turbo Next Nature also has a durable outsole but not as durable as the Tempo’s. It has rubber on its forefoot and rearfoot but most of its midfoot is exposed foam.
The upper of the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is made from recycled Flyknit which stretches. Its tongue is thin, flat and gusseted so it doesn’t slide downwards during runs. There is padding in the heel so there is no heel slippage when running in the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature. The upper of the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature runs true to size but has a really roomy and spacious interior.
The upper of the Tempo Next% is a bootie construction made from stretchy Flyknit so there is no tongue slide. It has padded pods inside its heel to prevent any heel slippage. The Tempo’s upper is more breathable than the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature’s upper because the Flyknit used is more porous. It also runs true to size.
Both trainers are only available in standard widths.
If you’re a runner looking for a soft trainer for longer runs at slower paces, the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature is the right choice for you. It has smooth ride transitions, a stable ride and a midsole which strikes the perfect balance between softness and responsiveness.
If you’re a runner looking for a firmer trainer for shorter runs at faster paces, the Tempo Next% is the shoe for you. It has a comfortable upper with no heel slippage, Zoom Air pods for extra responsiveness and a composite plate which makes ride transitions feel more snappy. The Tempo Next% is more expensive than the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature and slightly heavier but you get a more durable, more responsive trainer.
