This comparison will tell you which trainer is better for you.
The Vomero Plus has a super thick midsole made entirely of ZoomX foam. It measures 45 mm in the heel and 35 mm in the forefoot so it’s illegal to use in official World Athletics races. It has very deep cushioning with excellent energy return.
The Pegasus Plus has a medium-thick midsole that’s also made of ZoomX foam. It measures 35 mm in the heel, 25 mm in the forefoot so it’s allowed to be used in official World Athletics races. It has a moderate amount of cushioning with a decent level of energy return.
The Vomero Plus is the better trainer for relaxed runs and long runs. It has plenty of cushioning for those runs longer than 2 hours in duration but it has a weight of 281 grams, which makes it a bit difficult to hold a fast pace.
The Pegasus Plus is the better trainer for faster paced runs and short runs. It doesn’t have as much cushioning as the Vomero Plus but it’s substantially lighter which makes it easier to pick up the pace. The Pegasus Plus has a softer ride with a midsole that compresses more so it has more ground feel.
If stability is important to you, the Vomero Plus has the more stable ride. This is because it has a wider base and its midsole is firmer so there’s less lean bias. The Vomero Plus offers more support even though it has a much taller midsole.

When it comes to rockers, the Vomero Plus has the more prominent forefoot rocker due to its forefoot being stiffer. It’s stiffer because its midsole is thicker in the forefoot. The forefoot rocker makes it feel more efficient during runs and this saves you energy.
In terms of outsole durability, the Vomero Plus is the more durable. It has full outsole rubber coverage with very little exposed midsole foam. The Pegasus Plus has exposed midsole foam in the midfoot area which can easily be punctured and scraped. The Vomero also has better grip because it has more sticky rubber on its outsole.
Both of these trainers have very comfortable uppers. The Vomero Plus is made of engineered mesh whereas the the Pegasus Plus is made of Flyknit so breathability is much better in the Vomero Plus. The Vomero Plus has more padding, especially in the tongue and in the heel tab. The Pegasus Plus has a flat tongue with no padding so it doesn’t feel as comfortable. Both offer excellent foot lockdown with no heel slippage.
They both run true to size with the typical Nike narrow midfoot and forefoot. The interior of the Vomero Plus is a tad more spacious than the Pegasus Plus. They both don’t come in additional widths. The Vomero Plus has more reflective elements so it’s the safer trainer for low-light training.
If you want a deeply cushioned trainer for long or slow-paced runs, the Vomero Plus is the better trainer for you. It’s an excellent choice for long runs because it’s supportive, it has a forefoot rocker and has a lively ride. It also has the more durable outsole and better traction in wet conditions. If you have feet that are high in volume, you will find the upper of the Vomero Plus more comfortable.
If you want a lighter, more nimble trainer for fast, short runs, the Pegasus Plus is the better option. It’s easier to pick up the pace in the Pegasus thanks to its lighter build and if you are planning to race in a legal trainer, the Pegasus Plus is below the stack height limit. If you have low volume feet, the Pegasus Plus will also feel more comfortable.
