The Cumulus is one of ASICS’ most popular trainers and it's well known for its versatile ride and its affordability. Every year, the Cumulus receives major updates to its upper, midsole and outsole.
Here, we will tell you if the Cumulus 25 or the 24 is better for you.
The Cumulus 25 and 24 have different foams in their midsole so they have completely different rides. The Cumulus 25 uses FF Blast+ which is softer and lighter while the Cumulus 24 uses FF Blast which is firmer and heavier.
The Cumulus 25 has a plusher ride which is more suited to slow and long runs. It has more long-distance comfort than the Cumulus 24. The Cumulus 24 on the other hand is more suited to short and fast runs due to its firmer ride.
Stability is better in the Cumulus 24 because it has a thinner midsole which is firmer so it has less lean bias. It’s easier to corner in the Cumulus 24.
Transitions are smoother in the Cumulus 25 because it has a flatter outsole configuration with softer rubber lugs. In the Cumulus 24, you can feel the lugs through the midsole.
When it comes to outsole durability, the Cumulus 24 wins because it has more rubber coverage. The Cumulus 25 has more exposed midsole foam on its outsole which shows wear faster.
The upper of the Cumulus 25 feels softer and more comfortable than the upper of the Cumulus 24. It also feels thicker and plusher so the Cumulus 25 runs warmer than the 24 and is better for cooler climates.
The Cumulus 25 upper feels more padded and more luxurious than the Cumulus 24. The Cumulus 24 feels more streamlined.
Both shoes fit true to size and are available in normal, wide and extra wide versions.
If you’re a runner looking for a soft trainer for easy/recovery runs, get the Cumulus 25. It has a smoother ride and a more comfortable upper.
If you’re looking for a more versatile trainer, get the Cumulus 24. It has better stability and can pick up the pace more easily. The Cumulus 24 also has better durability.
