WHO IS IT FOR
Runners wanting a respectable stability shoe to assist with moderate over pronation united with a smooth ride

Unless you live under a rock you may have noticed that Skechers has a Performance division and they are really looking to be taken seriously.

Like any good running shoe company Skechers are looking at trends, and listening to runners and what there needs are.

As Skerchers continually keeps pushing to make an impact in the running shoe market they have made another advancement with the creation of the Forza.

Skechers GOrun Forza General Info

Skechers GOrun Forza - Lateral Side

Skechers GOrun Forza – Lateral Side

The Forza is the first stability shoe released from Skechers Performance. The Forza features a two part midsole using firm Resalyte material for the medial post, and Skechers new 5 GEN material to finish off the remaining midsole.

The Forza is an overall solid shoe providing a secure comfortable fit while serving up a very stable and decently cushioned ride.

Skechers GOrun Forza Sole Unit

Skechers has designed the sole of the Forza around its firm Resalyte medial post, a non-EVA injected molded compound formulated by the company.

While this compound has been used in many of its other shoes its application here is much different as the memory retention and cushioning have been removed and forged with a firmer and resilient ride in mind.

The Medial post is almost immediately engaging from the word go since it is the cornerstone of the shoes Mstrike technology, or a rockered sole that is meant to encourage a smooth, midfoot/forefoot landing and a quick transition.

The post eliminates any possibility for the foot to roll and quickly snaps it through the remainder of the gait cycle.

Skechers new 5Gen, or Next Generation Resalyte, finishes of the remaining midsole of the shoe. This reformulated compound provides lightweight cushioning and a touch of responsiveness to the shoe.

The outsole seems fairly uncomplicated utilizing high abrasion rubber which is slightly denser in the higher wear areas of the heel.

Flex groves spaced between rows of pods or “sensors” line the forefoot of the shoe providing flexibility through toe off.

Skechers GOrun Forza Upper Info

Skechers GOrun Forza - Pair

Skechers GOrun Forza – Pair

The upper of the Forza is comprised of a single stretchable mesh that is a one piece design. This material kept the shoe breathable while providing a comfortable fit.

The overlay’s are a new design using 3D printing vs. the heat pressed design typically found on their other models. A traditional heavier stitched overlay is placed at the toe of the shoe giving it better structure and durability.

Just beneath the saddle of the shoe to the inside lies an inner support strap which provides a reliable and secure fit.

The tongue is wide and well cushioned keeping it comfortable and held in place.

The Forza utilizes a molded internally mounted heel counter that is nicely rounded and well-padded for a secure and stable fit.

Skechers GOrun Forza Conclusions

Skechers GOrun Forza - Medial Side

Skechers GOrun Forza – Medial Side

The Skechers Forza is a lightweight daily trainer that provides a generous amount of stability and resilient cushioning with a smooth transition.

Aside from its daily use the Forza would also be a desirable shoe for high mileage runs. The Stability of the Resalyte medial post is very firm and was noticeable from the moment I placed the shoe on.

The level of pronation control is definitely on the upper end of the spectrum, but not so far to make it a motion control shoe.

That being stated, some runners who tend to favor a more blended type level of support, like the Ravenna or Pearl Izumi M3, might find the level of stability a bit much.

The shoe has a well cushioned ride that is resilient and firm. These two attributes paired with the Forza’s Mstrike design give the shoe a smooth transition.

The biggest problem that I found with the two materials, at least with my test model, was the bonding between the two parts.

On both shoes I encountered the parts separating in the forefoot where the medial post meets the midsole. I am not sure exactly when this started but I noticed it after 50 miles were put on the shoes.

The fit of the Forza is comfortable, breathable, and moved well with my foot. I never suffered blisters, hot spots, pressure, or pinching on any run. The design of the saddle strap and help counter reinforced the shoes security a stability.

All in all I think that the Forza would be a good choice for any moderate, or slightly more, over pronator looking for a firmly cushioned, smooth, daily stability shoe that is well suited for long runs.

We thank the nice people at Skechers for sending us a pair of GOrun Forza to test. This did not influence the outcome of the review, written after running more than 50 miles in them.
