ASICS releases new edition of its GEL-NIMBUS series.

As the GEL-NIMBUS series turned 20, ASICS introduced a new version of its most popular long-distance running shoe – the GEL-NIMBUS 20.

This model is made for runners of all levels. The GEL-NIMBUS 20, the line’s lightest version of this model ever, is designed to keep pace with the ever-evolving world of running. Its cushioning and light weight comfort allows runners to perform at their best from start line to finish line, according to the company.

“The GEL-NIMBUS has always been designed to offer runners superior cushioning without excess weight,”

Gerald Klein, ASICS Corporations’ Senior General Manager of Global Performance Running Footwear, said.

“In fact, Nimbus means ‘cloud’ in Latin.”

The shoe combines its patented FlyteFoam midsole inserts with GEL technology to offer elevated cushioning, shock absorption and a lightweight feel. According to the ASICS website, FlyteFoam technology is 55 percent lighter than the industry standard and contains “super fibers,” which conform back to their original shapes after each stride to provide adaptive cushioning.

“Our goal with the GEL-NIMBUS is literally to make runners feel so light and comfortable, it’s almost like they’re running on a cloud,”

Klein said.

Additionally, the shoe highlights a new Gradient Jacquard Mesh structure, which is engineered with strategic and seamless 3D printed overlays to wrap and support. This provides custom fit and breathability throughout the entire run.

Other notable features of the shoe include an I.G.S. (Impact Guidance System), Plus 3 and Gender Specific Cushioning, X-40 Ortholite Sockliner, External Counter and 3M Reflectivity.

The GEL-NIMBUS 20 is currently available for retail at ASICS and specialty running stores. It can also be found online at asics.com/nimbus. The footwear is priced at $160 USD.
