Brooks Glycerin 10 Preview

With the Glycerin 10, Brooks sought to build upon the strengths of the 8 and 9, while adding increased flexibility and cushioning. The result is a smoother ride and easier transitions, with the same fit, comfort, and cushion found in previous models. As Brooks’ premium neutral offering, the Glycerin 10 is packed with features throughout the upper and sole units.

The midsole features Brooks’ DNA cushioning throughout, allowing for a more responsive and flexible ride. Along the outside of the sole is the caterpillar crash pad, which is designed to provide additional cushioning and also shock absorption. The crash pad features deep grooves, which allow for a smoother transition. The grooves, which are called “Omega Flex Grooves” by Brooks, are slightly wider at the bottom, allowing them to expand and contract through the footstrike for a smoother ride. The inner section of the sole features Brooks’ DRB Accel, a plastic shank intended to provide additional support against pronation and twisting.

Overall, the fit and feel of the upper unit is smooth and plush, with few seams and ample cushioning. The Glycerin 10 features an arch saddle that conforms to each runner’s foot, allowing for maximum comfort and support. Another key feature of the upper is a plastic overlay along the laces, which helps to provide a secure fit and hold the foot in place. The rest of the upper is constructed of mesh overlays for increased breathability and a slight reduction in weight.

The end-result is a refreshed version of a classic model. Stay tuned for a full review!
