Saucony Omni 19 Intro
Now in its 19th rendition, the Omni is a staple in Saucony’s Stability lineup. It offers moderate support; sitting in between the Guide and the heavier Hurricane.
It’s comparable to Brooks’ Adrenaline, Asics GT-2000 line, and New Balance’s 860.
Saucony has removed the isofit upper system (and from their entire lineup) and has gone back to incremental numbering.
This is the most noticeable change, but the whole shoe has had a facelift including Saucony’s shiny new midsole compound PWRRUN.
Saucony Omni 19 First Impressions

Saucony Omni 19 – Toe
The shoes felt comfortable immediately out of the box. The upper was snug where it needed to be and roomy in the toe box. the sole felt stiff in my hands, but light and soft on my feet.
The colorway is somewhat muted from other Saucony shoes coming out this year but I liked the way it looked. This is something I can pair with my civilian clothes and not feel ridiculous wearing them with jeans.
Also, it was nice to see reflective accents! Why do I feel like shoe companies are starting to veer away from this?

Saucony Omni 19 – Sole
The outsole’s tread pattern gave lots of control on landing and lift off. It is near identical to the Omni ISO 2.
It is mostly soft blown rubber with a small strip of firmer material along the medial side to pair with the posting in the midsole.
I found the outsole to give exceptional traction in any weather condition I used it in. Inclement weather gave me no issues and I had full control at all times.
Durability wise I was quite impressed. I put nearly 100 miles on my feet during testing and there was minimal wear on them.
The midsole is Saucony’s new midsole compound, PWRRUN. It is another foam compound that has another claim to be much lighter than everyone else’s. Funny enough, the shoe is slightly heavier than last year!
Buzz words and claims aside, the material felt light and bouncy. It helped absorb impact and had enough of a rebound to give a nice lift off.
The stability portion of the shoe is a medial posting that went from my heel to midfoot. It is much firmer than the rest of the shoe, but they complemented each other nicely.
The medial post and harder strip of outsole rubber weren’t too aggressive in correcting my stride, but it’s certainly a stability shoe.
I could feel the shoe helping to guide my foot subtly at all times, more so when I was tired toward the end of some of my longer runs.
Overall, it provided a very soft ride. It really excelled on my easy days and longer, slower jaunts. The stack height and 8mm offset found me mostly landing and lifting off on my midfoot
I found the weight of the shoe to get in the way of my speed days, but this is very much a daily driver shoe, not one I’m going to use for workouts.

ISOfit is gone and replaced with a new synthetic mesh. The material breathed great in the humid Maryland summer heat.
It was incredibly comfortable with a material that was plush, but breathed well; especially during the hotter, humid months of a Baltimore summer.
The tongue of the shoe was rather thick and plush. It is a gusseted design, with it semi attached to the rest of the upper. It never crimped up or had me re-adjusting for a better fit. It sat under the laces perfectly.
The fit is true to size and I found no issues with it being too narrow. The toe box provide ample real estate as well.
The heel is rather rigid which helped lock the back of my foot into the shoe but it’s certainly not flexible in this area. Overall, the shoe fit like a glove.
Saucony Omni 19 Conclusion

It was nice revisiting the Omni as I hadn’t run in it in some time. I really wish the ISOfit system took off, as I enjoyed it in other Saucony shoes that I had tested over the last couple years.
Not all is lost as this was one of the most comfortable shoes I have tested in 2020.
The comfort really made it excel on my recovery days and longer, slow runs. The softness of it really made it a pleasure to run in when I just wanted to zone out.
While the midsole compound was light, it was still too heavy for me to be able to really push it at any speed I tried putting on these. Is this a deal-breaker? certainly not.
Like I mentioned before, this is a daily driver shoe.
If you are looking for something that is in the middle of the road in terms of stability, the Omni is for you.
We purchased a pair of Saucony Omni 19 from runningwarehouse using our own money. This did not influence the outcome of this review, written after running more than 50 miles in them.
