NYC Marathon 2018 Special Edition Running Shoes

We take a look at the special edition running shoes created for the 2018 NYC Marathon. With options from New Balance, Asics, Altra, Brooks, Saucony and adidas there’s a special edition for everyone!
Let’s start with New Balance, this year’s official sponsor of the race. NB offers three special make ups for NYC 2018 – here they are:
A svelte running shoe with a responsive, snappy sole unit – the Fuelcell impulse is quite moderate as far as special editions go. The main details are the official race logo on the tongue and the insole and the “RUN NYC” text at the base of the tongue.
The 1400v6 is one of our favorite running shoes of the year (read the review here) and a proper choice for runners who are looking to PR on this course. Very distinct colors for men and women and the official NYC Marathon logos on the shoe. We especially like the colorful camouflage outsole treatment.
If you prefer soft cushioning, here comes NB’s maximal cushioned shoe – the 1080v8 (read our review here).
Only one shoe from the German brand – and it is the top of the “Boost” range: the UltraBoost.
Here comes adidas Ultraboost with a full knit upper in a beautiful multi-color execution that represents the colorful Bodegas of the Big Apple. Comes in a unisex version for both men and women.
Saucony represents with their most popular shoe – a shoe that is meant to be worn for long, fast kilometers. Like a Marathon.
Stunningly beautiful version of one of the best shoes of the year (our review here). This shoe looks amazing with its elegan white background, but boasts stars, stripes, Lady Liberty…
Only one shoe for Asics as well – but it’s the Japanese brand’s most popular long distance running shoe.
The Gel Kayano is the only stability shoe in this collection. Let us be honest: we are not big fans of this execution, although we are definitely fan of the shoe. Read our full review here.
The brand with the zero drop and natural shaped toe box has recently released a road racing shoe – and here it is in its best looking version.
The Escalante Racer is the “speedy” relative of the extremely popular road shoe. We really like this execution, which is understated but clearly NYC inspired with the skyline and the “18” number on the medial side.
Last, my favorite of the bunch.
BANG! Taking inspiration from both the art of Roy Licthenstein and super-hero comics, here comes a loud, colorful version of one of the staple long-distance running shoes. Read our full review here.
This is the collection. You know which one is my favorite. Which one is yours? Did you buy one already? Please let me know in the comments!
