Preview: Brooks Levitate

The Brooks Levitate are created by making use of the company’s new DNA Amp midsole.

The DNA AMP is a brand new polyurethane (PU)-based cushioning system made by Brooks in collaboration with BASF to provide maximum energy return. The DNA AMP is designed to provide an ultra-bouncy and consistent ride during the running sessions.

The shoes are a bit heavier compared to most daily trainers weighing in at about 11.3 Oz for the men size 9.

The base of this DNA AMP is a polyurethane foam that naturally expands. This foam returns energy as force is applied to it. The foam is encased in a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) skin that has the ability to resist horizontal expansion and transfer the energy back to the user. The energy generated by each step is captured by the TPU skin and is returned back.

To minimize energy loss, the shoes feature an integrated Fit knit upper that firmly accommodates the runner’s foot as the shoe moves and expands. The flexible arrow shaped outsole works in harmony with the upper and DNA AMP midsole to provide pinpoint movement accuracy. The circular knit design expands seamlessly while running to provide excellent levels of breathability.

“We’re pushing the limits of energy return with the new Brooks Levitate and are excited to unveil a shoe that has been engineered from the ground up to provide runners with an infinitely energetic experience,” said Carson Caprara, director of global product line management, Brooks Running. “The Brooks Levitate features our revolutionary new DNA AMP midsole technology that releases energy straight back to the runner, making the experience so fun they might feel like running forever.”

The shoes are not yet out on the market. However, you can pre-order them for a price of $150.

We are testing the Brooks Levitate right now, stay tuned for our imminent review!
