EDIT 20 Feb 2024: Here you can find our full review of the Nike Alphafly 3!
The new Nike Alphafly 3 will be releasing starting January 4th 2024, on nike.com, in the Nike App and at select running specialty stores. It will be priced $285.
The launch colorway will be the “Prototype”, because it is the same colourways that Eliud Kipchoge, Kelvin Kiptum and Sifan Hassan wore this year while sweeping podiums and breaking records. The silhouette is all-white with pops of a red-ish color. On the midsole there’s a scribbles athlete wear-test number and on the upper a “V62”.
Here are some pictures – I personally really love this colorway.
What has changed?
To be honest, quite a bit. But these are the important changes:
- one continuous bottom instead of the completely decoupled heel/toe bottom of both the Alphafly 1 and Alphafly 2;
- a wider, full-length carbon FlyPlate which should make the shoe more stable and that has been fine-tuned for more performance;
- a new outsole called FastShot which should improve grip and traction;
- Atomknit 3.0 upper with a redesigned lacing system and better midfoot support.
Aside from these, Nike says they fine-tuned the combination of the Zoom Air units, Carbon FlyPlate and ZoomX foam to improve performance – this shoe’s reason to exist.
Here’s a nice exploded schema of the AlphaFly 3, courtesy of Nike, with some more description of the changes.
We’ll be getting a pair as soon as we can, and bring you our unbiased review – as usual.
